Watts on Crown!

What a nice way to start the week! Tonight, I tried out a new restaurant tonight with Miss Amy- (www.milkteaxx.blogspot.com )
[WATTS ON CROWN] 368 Crown St Surry Hills. It's a cute little restaurant in Surry Hills with a bright red door. The ambience is lovely- a tiny candle in the middle of the table and clean white tablecloths. A decently priced restaurant for a nice, sort-of fancy meal. Mains start from $23-$30.

Sorry about the poor quality of the photos- You all know what it's like in restaurants nowadays, they dim all the lights right down so everything (and everyone) looks better.

Grilled quail with eggplant ragout, chorizo and crisp basil 16.00
Salad of gorgonzola, pear, Israeli cous cous, cavolo nero
and lavosh with white balsamic dressing  14.00

This dish was a little strange for me- but I've never been a fan of blue cheese so maybe that's why.

Char grilled rump steak with CafĂ© de Paris butter,
chips and a watercress, caper and lemon salad 29.00

Grilled Albcone Tuna with Puy lentils, brussel sprouts, oregano,
lemon and almond dressing 28.00

The tuna was well cooked but it lacked a little zest-
some more lemon juice would've been my preference.

Chocolate Fondant with icecream

My favourite dish of the night. Delicious! I was a little disappointed with the lack of ooze in the cake though...
Cream Brulee with lemon myrtle, ginger and biscotti.

The cream brulee had a very pastey texture, it didn't taste quite right. The biscotti was too thick and unpleasant to eat.

Overall, it was a fun experience, the food filled me up and I had good company. Would I recommend this place? Sure, why not! The flavours were different- nice in a strange way, though they definitely could've been stronger.

If you want to try something different, some quirky flavours and ingredients then head over to Crown St and try it out. It's not toooo too expensive and it's close to Gelato Messina! Though after that choc fondant I don't see the need for any other dessert.
